From Jason’s Desk
It's been 3 months since the last newsletter. During that time I have been instructing on a number of veneer courses to teach dentists the advanced cosmetic techniques I have learnt in America.
The practice has been busy. We have all been training hard to use the new Cerec system I have invested in (see below). The system is a machine to make inlays and crowns that has been developed by Siemens over a 20 year period. To date over 9 million Cerec restorations have been placed! It is only now I have decided to invest for my patients as its accuracy is as good as anything made by a Ceramist in a laboratory. In addition, it is VERY conservative, so we can just treat the damaged part of the tooth and bond in a metal free ceramic repair that looks, feels and acts like your own orginal tooth.
I am sorry to say that Karim is leaving us to concentrate on a new practice he has purchased but his clients will be looked after by Kostas and myself. Nikos, our periodontist, has also moved on to pursue a full time MSc in Implant surgery at Manchester University. He has been replaced by Dr Robin Ratcliffe, who has completed his post graduate studies in Periodontology with distinction. We all wish
Nikos and Karim well in their future ventures.
Chrismas and the New Year are rapidly approaching and the year has flown by. I would like to thank my clients for their support and business and wish you all a healthy and Happy 2008.

CEREC- One visit crowns, inlays or veneers
We are one of the limited number of users of the Cerec system
in the UK.
CEREC is the world's only system for the fabrication of all ceramic permanent restorations in one visit.
Most dental restorative methods require more than one visit to the dentist. With CEREC, the procedure is done in a single appointment, start to finish. A CEREC tooth restoration isn't just convenient, it is also healthy.
With CEREC, we can use strong, tooth colored ceramic materials to restore your teeth to their natural strength, beauty, and function. These materials closely match the composition of natural tooth structure. The porcelain restoration is chemically bonded to your tooth, so we can save as much healthy tooth tissue as possible while providing you with a dental restoration that strengthens
your tooth.

CEREC BEING MILLED
This preparation is just as we would do for many other restorative techniques, but...
No impressions necessary!
We take an Optical Impression of the prepared tooth instead of filling a tray with impression "goop". A camera is then used to take a digital picture of your tooth.
The CEREC 3D software takes the digital picture and converts it into a 3-dimensional virtual model on the computer screen. We design the restoration, click a button, and the data is sent to a separate milling machine. A ceramic block that matches your tooth shade is placed in the milling machine. Ten minutes later, your all-ceramic, tooth-colored restoration is finished and ready to bond in place. Once bonded the tooth looks and feels like a healthy natural tooth.
No Temporaries necessary or second visit necessary.
